Cork It! and retro movies at Palace Arts Center

We had a great night of wine, food and movies last night.  First stop was our favorite wine bar in the city, Cork It! .  I love how this place works.  You get a prepaid card which you use to sample whatever wine you choose.  You just put your card in the slot in the machine next to whichever wine you want, choose a taste, half glass or full glass, and just press the button and out it comes.  The cost is deducted from your card and it tells you how much you have left.   It’s great fun to just wander around, reading all the wine descriptions, and choosing to taste what looks interesting.

They have great food too.  One of our favorites is the Mediterranean Dip Sampler which has hummus, tapenade, and bruschetta.   YUM.  Here’s our spread from this evening:

Then we headed to the Palace Arts Center for their showing of Star Wars IV: A New Hope.  What a great blast from the past!   This was the first time we had been to a movie there and it is a great, fun retro space and the movie fit perfectly.  It was pretty full in there and everyone really got into the movie (lots of cheering when they blew up the Death Star).  And half the people in there probably weren’t even born yet when Star Wars first came out, yet they enjoyed it all the more.  And of course we had to get popcorn.

It was a gorgeous, perfect night for a stroll down Main Street, taking in some of Grapevine’s best food, drinks and entertainment.  Can’t wait to do it again.
