Macy’s Cafe

This morning after church we stopped by Macy’s Cafe up on Hwy 26.  This is the same spot where Grapevine Diner used to be.  I am not sure if the owners are the same, but I am guessing not.

The place is somewhat small, which usually means that it is probably good.  We walked in and were immediately seated by a friendly staff.

We were most interested in breakfast this morning, but I thought the breakfast selection was somewhat small.  They had several omelettes, waffles and pancake dishes.  I personally like egg dishes which come with bacon or sausage, and some hashbrowns or biscuits or toast.  Macy’s didn’t have any such dish.  They had Country Fresh Eggs with a choice of meat, but nothing else.  No toast or biscuits or hashbrowns.  They also didn’t have Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs as a breakfast plate, though I did see it on the lunch menu.

I ordered the breakfast burrito which was quite large, and I couldn’t finish.  The scrambled eggs were fluffy and light, and the sausage was just about perfect.  I didn’t care much for their hot sauce which came on the side of the dish.  The hashbrowns also weren’t as crispy as I normally like, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t good.  Lots of people like them a little more soft than I do, so I didn’t think that was a bad thing.

Waiters and waitresses came by very regularly to check our coffee and drinks.  The food overall was pretty good, and the waiter told me that they were adding more dishes to the menu very soon.

I am going to be glad to return to this restaurant and eat another dish.  I am hoping to see the menu grow and more choices available.  The wait-staff was great and friendly this morning, and I expect they will be the next time also.

We went there for breakfast one Saturday morning. I agree the service is friendly but perhaps a bit disorganized. Maybe they are new enough they are still working some kinks out.

Food was good, I had the southwestern omelet which was tasty, and hash browns and a biscuit. Another person in our group got the waffle which is shaped like Texas, which is kind of fun.

what a rip off, tables were dirty and staff was rude, and food was not that good. I sure won’t go back.

Nice little cafe on hwy 26/Ira Woods. Chicken fried steak was great with cream grave. I had the mashed potatoes and pasta salad with it and went away happpy. Service is prompt and efficient, teenage girls anxious to please.
I suspect fred has other problems than just getting service..
