Peace Burger has got to be one of Grapevine’s best kept secrets. A little hole in the wall in a not-too-highly-traveled strip center, with some of the best burgers in town, located at 1228 William D. Tate Avenue, next to Baja Mexican Grill.
Peace Burger has some unusual burgers like the “Hippie Burger” (pictured below) that I had today, with a veggie black bean patty, guacamole, jalapenos, and chipotle sauce. I’m mostly a carnivore, but I do love a good black bean burger which you can’t find too many places (Other places I have seen them are at Flip’s Patio Grill and Mooyah).
For the meat-eaters, you have the “Hell” burger, which has jalapenos, habanero sauce, and monterey jack cheese. The menu states, “Not for wussies” and boy is that true. Other burger choices include the “Cry Baby Blue” burger with Cajun spices, bleu cheese, and buffalo sauce, as well as the Peace Burger with poblano pepper, monterey jack cheese, jalapenos, and guacamole. They also have sliders which I like. All the burgers are cooked well-done, if you’re particular about that sort of thing.
Burgers are $5 and for $1.75 more you can get a big basket of fries, more than enough to share. Our meal with two burgers, fries, one beer and one Diet Coke came to under $20. We’ll be back – oh yes, we’ll be back. Oh – and lest I forget, the place is full of TVs and seems to be a decent place to watch a game. Like, say, the World Series???
