Tonight we needed to run out and grab a quick bite and time was short, and we had been wanting to try Bottlecap Alley Icehouse for a while, so off we went.
Verdict: It was fine. Not fabulous, but fine. It would be a more than decent place to watch a game, as it’s a sports bar with plenty of TVs (we recommended it for a World Series viewing location already). Having now visited in person and sampled the food, I still think it’s fine. Not fabulous, but fine.
The burgers are nice and fresh and made to order, but with 1/4 pound patties, not particularly large or juicy. However, I’ll concede they’re worth $5, though they are not nearly as tasty as the burgers at Peace Burger for the same price. The BBQ Hickory Burger with bacon, cheddar cheese and hickory sauce was a combo I don’t often try, but it was a solid choice. The fresh-cut fries were above average and seasoned nicely.
Not the most photogenic food I ever ate. But if you need to get in and out quickly with decent, fairly cheap food, or if you’re up for watching a game, I’d recommend this place. If you’re looking for the best burger in town, move on down the road; you won’t find it here.
