The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life will take place this Friday-Saturday, April 29-30, at Cross Timbers Middle School (on Pool Road just off Highway 26), from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.. This is a really neat event that I would not have heard about if I did not have a friend participating. There are over 50 teams participating and team members will be running/walking the track continuously throughout the night – because as the site points out, “Cancer never sleeps.”
If you have a little free time, it would be great to stop by the track and offer the participants a little cheering and encouragement. You don’t have to stay all night but any time invested to show your support would be greatly appreciated.
If you’re not able to come in person, donations are also greatly appreciated by the team members and my friend’s fundraising page is located here.
I’m inspired by this effort and by what appears to be a fantastic turnout of residents from Grapevine and surrounding communities to support the cause.
