This past Monday night, Grapevine continued its annual tradition of the Carol of Lights, where the big downtown Christmas tree and some surrounding lights are all turned on at once. The ceremonies had to be a little abbreviated this time due to rain, but still we had a great time.
We grabbed dinner at Farina’s (and scored an amazing parking spot in the back too – yea!) and it was pretty full when we got there, but we were able to sit in the bar and eat. We got done just in time to walk a few blocks down the street and see the tree lighting. Thankfully, the drizzling rain that we experienced on the way to dinner miraculously disappeared right before the ceremonies. We desperately need rain so I wasn’t about to complain but it worked out perfectly that we got some early in the evening and not later on.
There were probably about 200 people by my estimation in the gazebo area where the tree is. They were selling kettle corn and some other fun snacks and it smelled amazing. The lights are really beautiful and it was so fun and festive to kick off the Christmas holiday season that way.
The lights will be on every evening through the new year so come downtown and check it out!
We will be back later in the week with some detailed posts on holiday happenings around Grapevine. There are almost too many to list!
