Funscape at Grapevine Activity Center Re-opening!

Funscape at the Grapevine Activity Center will re-open Friday, January 25th at 7:00 pm. Funscape is a youth program for 3rd to 8th eighth graders. It will be a lot of fun and great for the kids and a nice treat for adults to have a few hours. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

It’s Grapefest week!

Very exciting- it’s time for Grapefest again! This week marks the 26th annual Grapefest wine festival in Grapevine. We’ve been looking forward to this for months. It’s always such a fun time and such a great event for the city.

Doors open on Thursday at 10 a.m. From then until Friday at 5 p.m., admission is free. After that, tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for seniors and children. You can get a weekend pass for $18 or a souvenir pin weekend pass for $23.

Some of the events we always look forward to:

People’s Choice Wine Tasting Classic
Grapestomp
Live music
Arts and crafts vendors and shopping

There are also some other events we’ve yet to take advantage of. Maybe this will be the year?

The weather should be fantastic with highs in the mid 80s. However, we’ve been at Grapefest before in pouring rain, so even in less than perfect weather, there is always a great showing.

We’ll be tweeting while we are there and look for a post (or two or three) with details of what we have been up to. Wine, food, music, and shopping, not necessarily in that order! I have my eye on the furniture made of wine barrels. Last year we picked up a wine rack and this year I’d love to come home with one of their chairs or an end table.

Drop Top Rockets at The Tap-In – Saturday night

We have blogged about this band before as we went to see them last New Year’s Eve at Tap-In, and have been to see them a couple of times since then. I just learned that tomorrow night, Saturday, they will be back there. We really think this is a great show – they refer to themselves as “Wild Texas Rockabilly” and play a lot of the likes of Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Jerry Lee Lewis. It’s a really fun show and Tap-In is always a great place to hang out. The weather should be excellent and I expect they’ll probably have the doors open like they do when it is nice outside. If you want a table, it might be a great idea to show up a little early and have dinner as well.

The show starts at 8:30 p.m. A good time will be had by all.

Grapevine Animal Shelter Pet of the Week – Tootsie

Tootsie was found as a stray in our City and has not been spayed/neutered or vaccinated. She is very affectionate and loving. She is very slender and has extremely short hair, so she will not shed lots of hair and she keeps her area very neat. She is grown but only about a year old. Tootsie is in need of a good home! The adoption fee is $40. This fee includes a $30 voucher to go towards being spayed/neutered and a $10 voucher to go towards a rabies vaccination.

In-N-Out Burger – Finally confirmed!

Well, this is a long time for rumors to swirl…..We first posted about the possibility of an In-N-Out Burger location in Grapevine over a year ago, in this post here: http://www.grapevineblog.net/2011/07/in-n-out-burger-coming-to-grapevine/

Today, the Fort Worth Business Press confirmed the purchase of land by the company for its Grapevine location: http://fwbusinesspress55.1upprelaunch.com/main.asp?FromHome=1&TypeID=1&ArticleID=19780&SectionID=24&SubSectionID=49

The announcement that the company had picked the site at the northeast corner of William D. Tate and Highway 114 was not a big surprise and that was where we expected that they would land. Good to know the old KFC site is getting a new resident!

Friday night movies at PAC

It’s Friday night movie time at Palace Arts Center again! They’ve been moving through the Star Wars movies one by one, and this week it’s time for episode I – “The Phantom Menace.”

(Or the fourth episode actually made, as my fellow children of the 80s think of it).

The movie starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $5. They can be purchased up to the day before the show online at the link below:

I know Groupon is the big name in “deal of the day” discount opportunities, but I have found some real gems on LivingSocial as well. Today’s deal features a double date opportunity of sorts – $20 for a gourmet cheese tray and four souvenir glasses. Presumably the wine is extra, but you could order a bottle of something you know you like, or take advantage of their $5 tastings to find a new favorite.

I’ve tried their cheese plates before and they’re very good. D’Vine isn’t a big food place, they mostly just have munchies that go with wine, but you can have a nice pre-dinner time there and then follow up with a great meal at any of the downtown restaurants.

This deal is good for about another day and a half, just in time to use for the weekend.

Happy 4th of July from The Grapevine Blog Spot!

There will be fireworks at Lake Grapevine tonight, they generally start around 9:30pm or whenever the sun goes down far enough to be dark. There are several great spots around the lake to watch, but get there early because traffic will likely be heavy.

Thank you to all the veteran and active military residents who live in and around Grapevine. Without the sacrifice and patriotism of persons like yourselves, we wouldn’t be able to celebrate this holiday and we wouldn’t enjoy the freedoms today that we do.

Everyone have a safe and happy holiday.
